2D Intermediate Mandalas

First project of the semester. I designed the curriculum. Students find the center point of the paper, then draw a 9-inch circle with a compass. Next they use a ruler and protractor to divide the circle into 8 even slices.

Review of the elements of art and principles of design. Students had to plan the illustration of all 14 in some clear way. The mandala already has come built-ins, such as unity and balance. Once the shapes were drawn in the radial design, students added color with colored pencils.
