The Subbing Life

Since September, I’ve been subbing K-12 in the Springdale School District. What an adventure. I think every certified teacher should do this for a time. So many schools and kids. And the bonus is that there are no meetings, no lesson planning, no calling parents. Kinda dreamy. And, if a place is not my jam, I don’t have to go back! Because the need is so great, most of my time has been in special education classrooms, and mostly with kids with autism. Like I always told my art ed students, “there’s only one letter different between ‘autistic’ and ‘artistic’”.
